I think what Jacqueline Woods is trying to say is that when their is war going on then you can not be with white people because the white & the black are having problem's but then later on in the years than the war is over. But I think back than u could play. In the book the to kids parents said don't go across that fence. But than one day they said that are mom said we can not set on the fence so they got to know each other and than when Annie's friends said can we play than she said I don't care than they all became friends.
