The terrible thing

The color of the pictures are just black and white, I think it's the way how the author expressed the main idea of the book, the colors mention how serious problem is.But,anyway,it's a child book , so the animals made the problem more fun. It's really a special book! And the picture and the words didn't say corretly what's the terribe thing is, but we already know,do we?It's human ourselves ,we are so greedy that we don't care our behavior may hurt others. This is really worth us to think about.

These are the flock of birds when the terrible thing came!

Hitler (bad)

i think that the animals were kids that the Nazi's and Hitler were after. like : the rabbitt were the mentally challenged, and the birds were the Jews, and the porcupines were the disabled. I think that what they should have doen to keep this from happening was to stand up for what they believe. even if it ment for them to be killed, as long as they felt they did something good, befor they went. i would have stud up for my family, friends, and MABEY the people i don't like. what would you have done. Oh ya, the guy named Hitler was the person that started all of this. it was his idea to start the naiz's. i really hate him for that! do you? i am glad he is dead, cause if people diden't stop him most of my friends would not be here. but what i thought was wired was that besides jews, and he rest he also went after blonds with blue eyes. i think that is really bad!.......... soo do you thnk that is bad? i hope you do. PLEASE COMMENT BACK!!!

Nazis
Adolf Hitler

HI, it's me, Petar. I think that when the terrible things kept coming that was really the Nazis coming back to get each group of people that Hitler disliked. If all the people had stuck together, Hitler would probably have failed. But instead, they thought that that group of people was unimportant, and continued life without them. But, Hitler came back and got another group of people, and in the end, there were lots of perfectly innocent people.

Terrible Things

Terribl Things is about when all the animals gets tooking away by this like fog. I think all those group of animals where all of those people. And the smell in the story I think was gun powder. And we talked about the Holocaust is a big group of people and the leder was Hitler and they killed millions of people if you were in a wheel chair then they will kill you and it was the Holocaust world war 2 in greminy so I think those animals in the book was the people and the smoke is the NAZI.!!!!!!
hitler leader of the holocaust
i think that the reason that Eve Bunting's idea is that if the different groups in the holocaust wold have stuck together they might have avoided the hole thing. for the most part the main idea of the book is stick together and you will come close to victory or winning. at first the big rabbit never listined to the baby rabbit because it was to arrogant so at the end the baby rabbit was right.

terrible thing

We have to help others to fight with the terrible thing when something unfair happened. If jewls react Nazis, they may keep living in the world. And the history may be different.
I think the illustrations are really awesome. It's very hard to draw these picture.

Look forward to seeing you again.

Terrible Thing

In this story , the animals are selfish. That's why when the terrible thing came , they were

caught. If they help each other , they wouldn't be caught.

This story tell us that people have to help each other. We live in the same world , so we have

to be united. If we don't unite , the war will begin. I don't think that people like the war.I don't

like , either.what do you think about this?

The terrible

I think the terrible is a bunch of people who want to take test on all the animals or it is

hunters who used black smoke to scare the animal in the traps or it could of been all the trucks

and cars pollution I think we should go back to horses and carts because it does not pollut and

because i LOVE horses ☺☺☺☺☻☻☻☻♥♥♥♥☺☻♥☺☻♥☺☻♥
What I think THE TERRIBLE THING is a person. the reson i think that it might be a person is because, shot guns spay bebes in every direction like it said in the book " it was like a net". I think that the illastrations are alittle gloomy. The pictures of the terrible things are kind of like the pictures of "scary stories to tell the dark" one, two, and three. I think they are the same artists. All the pictures are black and white. I think that the moral of the book is to stick together and work as a team. I think the illustrations make me feel sad because its so gloomy.

☺☻☺☻☺☻☺☻☺☻☺☻☺☻Terrible Things ☻☺☻☺

Hi, it's me, Petar. I think that the terrible things were human beings. I think that the nets were those guns that fire a lot of BBs in a circle, like a net. It is saying how horrible poaching is. People should not completely clear an area of animals. The book also made me think of the holocaust. The terrible things were the Nazis, and the animals were the Jews. The other people who had different religions did not help the Jews at all. The holocaust probably could have been stopped if all the people had stuck up for and helped the Jews, it could have never happened. Do you study the holocaust in Taiwan? Also, the animals should have stuck together and not done what they did, just like the people should have done in the holocaust. One of the rabbits always said that the terrible things had no reason to take the animals. He was quite correct. Hitler also had no good reason to get the Nazis do kill all of those innocent Jews.

what is the Trerrible Thing?

what do you think the Terrible Thing is ? i think that the Terrible Things are 2 people and a huntting dog. and i think that the "net" is guns that have a net that is on them. the thing that really got my attention was when they took all the other animals and not the last bunnie. and i was wondering why the thing did not go all over and not just that same place. when the animals said they diden't care that the other animals were gone. i think they did care that they were gone. and i thought that is was wired when the last bunnie said "i will go tell the other animals." cause i thought the thing took them all and that is when i thought that the thing moved from place to place to take animals that fit the catorgorie for the day. the reason i say for the day is because each day the animal is different. like one day it was the porcupine and the other day it was the rabit. each day it's different. and it/thing should go some were eles. i think the reason the thing left 1 bunnie is because that young kids/animals can stop fighting and that there is hope in all kids and animals. it's like animals are humans but they can make a differance, and it's like humans are animals and they can still make a differance. no matter who our what you are you can make a differance. like those dogs that can save poeple it is just like that but they are not traind!! :} please comment back!

what is the Trerrible

The reason why the author picked peacocks and swans was because even the most beautiful things can have wars. Peacocks and swans are large, elegant birds ---like hawks and eagles are elegant but they fight each other. Usually peacocks and swans don't take part in fighting. I don't think it is all the peacocks fault . . the swans started believing what they were hearing. Instead of making arrows the swans could have gone to the source and talked to peacocks. It got started when a foolish peacock started talking about the swans and the rest of the peacocks started to follow along and say what would happen.

Hi.

Hi, it's me, Petar.

Question: Even if the peacocks kind of started the problem, do the swans have any responsibility in what happened?

I think that the swans had a natural reaction. If you heard that your neighbor was going to slaughter you if you did anything to them, you would be afraid. You might prepare something for defence. Or, you might call the police or move out. The swans were afraid. But, they should not have assumed that the peacocks were actually going to harm them. They should have gone to the peacocks and discussed the matter. They should not have created their own arrows.

chanaling your fear...

in the book i think that the swans had nothing to do with the hole fight. I do think that they had a nateral reaction. i think that because wouldn't you have a reaction if your neighbor said they wanted to kill you? i was shocked when the peacocks made the first move, i thought the swans would make the first move. i think the auther chose these birds because they ment to tell us a message that even the most prettest things can go bad. if you could be any kind of bird what would you be? i think i would be a cardinal because it is the name of my favoret baseball team! and it is really pretty and fast like me! PLEASE COMMENT BACK NO ONE DOES TO ME......................

(☺)☻)☺)(Feathers & Fools)(☺(☻(☺)

Hi, it's me, Petar. I think that the fear between the swans and the peacocks came from inside their heads. There was no reason for the peacocks to think that the swans could harm them. The swans had not shown any signs of anger or threats towards the peacocks. When the first peacock saw that the other peacocks did not want to talk about that subject, he should have stopped. But, he just continued and created the problem. When the peacock saw the swan carrying the reed and supposed they were starting a battle, that would be like seeing someone carrying a stick , and attacking everyone from their country/family/race. So basically, a terrible war started from nothing, a stray thought. Why did the peacocks have to tellthe peacocks that they were making a lot of weapons to fight them? Also, an egg cannot hatch without the bird sitting on it constantly. When they hatched out, both birds were fully grown.

Peacock and Swan

I think that Featehrs and Fools is about wars that start out of someone's head. By that I mean that wars just start by someone saying something that is not true. Like at first the first peacock said that the swans can swim and another peacock said how strange the swans should fly. Again the first peacock broke the silence and said they had great strength and he said that they could turn us out of our gardens and make us fly or force us to swim. And so the peacocks started gathering sharpen feathers. Then the swans heard the peacocks talking and started sharpening their feathers. And the war broke out.

I think the book had good illustrations. I think the artist used good contrast of hot and cold colors. And the brush strokes he uses are kind of smooth in some parts and rough in others. You can see how much detail he puts into the pictures. The animals have eyes, the peacocks have beautiful featehrs, the swans have kind of whitish yellow feathers. I think what the author meant in the end when the two birds became friends was that no mater how horrible the past is thair is alwase room for friendship.

(☺)☻)☺Feathers and Fools☺☻☺)

feathers and fools

It's a war between swans and peacocks. The reason they fought with each other is that they didn't realize each other. They had even never talked to each before the war began. They had too many misunderstandings. So, we have to change our ideas to realize other's thoughts to reduce the production of misunderstanding. Just like the baby swan and baby peacock, they talked after they were just born. So, they became friends in the end. The illustrations are really attractive. I like its picture very much.

I think Henry had a point. He wanted to go and beat up the Italian boys. But Grandpa Chin had a good point also. He shook his head no. And the grandfather Chin had a good idea about making another kite, a dragon. And he said, "Everybody respects dragons." Even though he wasn't trying to scare away the Italians' pigeons, he was still kind of sorry that he was doing that. So the reason why the boys still threw rocks, because the kites were scaring away their pigeons. That will be useful to them.

Henry and the kite Dragon........

one thing a thought was bad was when Tony and his friends ripped and shredded all the other kites. THey could have just talked to them and said that is my homing pigeon - please stop. But they had to throw rocks and make them mad. The reason I think the kids from Chinatown began to repsect Tony's prespective becasue if they were him they would want him to stop too. When they launched all those kites, they were really trying to say, "Stop" because if I kept going over and over again I wouldn't see that they wanted to stop and if Tony knew where Grandfather Chin lived he could go up there and say this is my pigeon and they could put something up there to show it was his pigeion. Even if there were no pigeons the people in Chinatown the kids and grandfather Chin shouldn't be chasing any kinds of bird becasue you could actually scare the bird to death.
I think that the other thing they learned from Grandfaher was to respect different people and to go talk to them and see if everything is OK. I think when Tony cries it shows another side of him because everyone is afraid of him but he is only protecting his pigeons. WHen he begins to cry in front of the kids I think the kids saw the sensitive side of him too. when Grandfather Chin says "Eneryone respects dragons" he was wrong because when Tony and his friends started throwing rocks it shows they don't know anything about Chinese culture and you can't put all the balme on them because they don't know anything about the Chinese culture and they don't know that the dragons are sacred. In the part when Tony cries instead of getting angry that really surpirsed me because everyone thinks he a big bad monstor thing and when he cries it shows that inside he is just a pup. The reason I think that the author wanted to write stories for kids to kids is because when you write books for kids it can be true or not ture stories when you write those stories and you have some of those kids in your town you can start reading and learning more about kids in those other countries. when all the kids were is the park it was a SMART ideia for Grandfather Chin to lanuch the dragon kite, it got the kids disteracted so the chineses kids couldn't start the fight.

Henry and the Kite Dragon

Hi, it's me, Petar. Other than kite making, I think the kids learned not to anger and fight. The kids were going to go beat the Italian kids up, and he said "Well, we'll just have to go and make another one." The kids did not understand him, however. After they finished making the dragon kite, Grandfather Chin said that the Italians would not throw rocks at it because everyone respects dragons. But, they still threw rocks. I think that Chinese people do respect dragons, but Italian people do not respect dragons. Also, the Italians were worried about their pigeons more than they were about the kites.

Kites

Henry and the kite dragon

This is a pretty cool story!!It talks about different cultures' special custom, and the clash between them, but in the end they all became good friends.I like the conclusion. The Grandfather Chin gives me some sort of mysterious feeling just as other Chinese antient stories.I also like the painthings in this book, they are all amzing, aren't they?

Henry And The Kite Dragon

I like the illustration of the book, it has bright colors.
About this story, when i read the pages that Tony threw stones to kites again and again, i was so angry, i did think Tony was a bad guy, if i were Henry, i would have bumped him. But at the end of the story, i finally got that Tony was not bad. He just wanted to protected his pigeons.

Grandpa's kites were fabulous, huge and beautiful. And he did really like to make kites though they had broken by Tony.

Henry And The Kite Dragon

I think this story is talking about the different race cause the misunderstanding. In the story, the

Chinese kids and the Italian kids had misunderstanding at first. But after Grandfather Chin

made the dragon kite, they knew why the Italian kids always threw stones to the kites, and they

finally were friends.

we always misunderstand others in our life, but if we can understand why they do that, the

misunderstanding can be solved at last.

Henry dragon kite

Grandfather Chin was a really cool person. He could made so many kinds of kites. He always made a new kite after the kite was torn by Tony and his friends. He was so tolerant that he had never been angry with that children who damaged the kites when Henry was furious and even wanted to fight with them. Mr.Chin was an great artist and a wonderful neighbor.

*China town is a really narrow place where is full of people.

Henry and the Kite Dragon

This book is about this man name Mr. Chen. He makes kites. One day he flew his bird kite and he scared this pigeon. And this boy named Tony threw rocks at the kite. And they stomped it. And Grandpa Chen said, "we will just have to make another one." So they made a Caterpillar. And it scared the pigeon again. So they threw rocks at it. They ripped it. So Grandpa Chen told Henry to go get all his friends. And then when they walked into the door, the kite was waiting for them to pant and then all of them marched on top of the roof and then grandpa Chin flayed the kite and it corverd the whole sky and everyone looked. And tony and his friends stared throughing rocks again. And Henry was getting mad and he and his friends was about to fite and then they became friends.
Hi, It's me, Petar. I think that there was a misunderstanding between the kids. The Chinese thought the Italians were being mean by destroying their kites, and the Italians tought the Chinese were being mean by chasing their pigeons. But, they did not talk to each other. They should have talked to each other earlier. If they had, the kites would not have been destroyed, and the pigeons would not have been scared away. They did talk to each other, but it was too late. Talking is important, especially in situations like that. I do not understand why the Italians destroyed the kites. All they had to do was get them down. I am glad that they got together in the end.

The other side (by Grace)

The book deals about the walls between the black people and the white.
The children, (i forgot the names) their parents' don't allow them to cross the fence
because they are afraid that their children might be bullied by the children on the other
side of the fence(just because of their colors)
I feel sorry for the children because they are educated with the wrong thoughts. Both the
white and the black are kind-hearted, and they are eager to play with one another just as
children do. Actually, if we can open our mind to accept each other and treat the other with
sincerity, our friendship will last long regardless the countries or races we are from.
Fortunately, the children broke the fence and became good friends, they also find it happy
to play with people of the different race as well , the thought that not to despise others is truly
of great value. To conclude, we should not have any discrimination of different kinds of people,
if we are willing to, we can become close friends.

The other side Evelyn

Many times when children ask questions the adults will say, “That’s just the way it is.” What does that answer mean? Why do the adults say that?
Children are always curious, but adults are sometimes too lazy to explain. Maybe they think children are too young to understand. And as the days go by, little children turn into adults, they are not curious anymore. Also, they don't want to spend time answering their children's questions.

the other side

I think this story's main idea is same with our first book. They all talk about no matter what color our skin is, what really matter is that the heart we use to get alone with those who have different skin color with us, and I really like this story, both its pictures and words!!

Monday, April 14, 2008

the other side

It's a good story. My favorite part is at last. The little girl said that someday the fence will be knock down. That means the wall between them will disappear some day. I can't realize why the white American still discriminate against African American recently. It's not fair to any people.

this is the girl that made a friend with annie
I like the book becuse it is itoresting

The Three Question.

Today we asked question and then we gave the answer. In the book she was saying some day someone is going 2 nock the fence down. And I think that if Marthe Luther king Jr. was still alive then he would have been done nock the fence down.

1. when kids ask a questions the parents say "that's just the way it is" i think they mean they don't know or they don't want to anser or they really don't feel like they want to anser.
when you see your parents roll their eyes you know they are thinking of an exuexcuse to say to you!! DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!! just say "ok" and walk away sadly then they will give you the TRUE anser!!!!!!

The Other Side ☺♥☻2

Hi, its me, Petar. I think that the author meant that the girls were getting lonelier, and lonelier when it said in the book that the fence was getting bigger. they wanted to play with each other, but they couldn't.

Wednesday, April 9, 2008

the other side

Clover's friend Sandra was jealous at the beginning. Why rejected Annie to play with them?
But at last they became good friends i think.
Because of the fence, Clover couldn't go out to the other side of the house without her mother's permision. it's a pitty that Clover and even Annie couldn't have more friends to play with.
However, they were good friends at the end, just because of the fence.
it seemed that the fence is the ship between Annie and Clover
