The reason why the author picked peacocks and swans was because even the most beautiful things can have wars. Peacocks and swans are large, elegant birds ---like hawks and eagles are elegant but they fight each other. Usually peacocks and swans don't take part in fighting. I don't think it is all the peacocks fault . . the swans started believing what they were hearing. Instead of making arrows the swans could have gone to the source and talked to peacocks. It got started when a foolish peacock started talking about the swans and the rest of the peacocks started to follow along and say what would happen.
