HI☺

Hi, it's me, Petar. I was surprised at how similar your school looked to ours (in the video).

in common!!

i think the teacher and the kids have lots in common!!!! like, they all contributed to making her want to make the christmas real for her parents!! i think she did the right thing!! i am glad she did that to get her parents in the mood!!!! then when her parents did that for her it made her happy and that is the one thing they probaly wanted!!!

HI☺

Hi, it's me, Petar. I think thet that really could happen to a girl coming from Korea to America. It probably has.

what do you think?

Hi, what do you think about the book??? i love the book!!!! what is favoret part???? and your favoret person. mine is Yoon!!!

QandA about Yoon~by Evelyn

2. How do you feel about the way Yoon’s parents responded to the situation?

How did her parents’ thinking seem to change by the end of the story?

They were a little too conservative to accept news change, but somehow, their response seemed reasonable. If Yoon took part in all the Christmas celebration instead of Korean traditional activities, gradually, for sure, she'll forget about the original Korean ideas.
The parents changed at last because Yoon tried to communicate with them. Communication is very important. If Yoon did'nt talk with her parents, they probably will never understand what their child was thinking about, don't mention accept her ideas.

7. Share your thinking about the illustrations in the book.

Well, in the book, Yoon has small eyes, pale face, and blood-colored mouth, and so are her parents. I dont't like this part of the book.

flo q&a

4. Once Yoon came back from the holidays and told her teacher and classmates about her New Year’s, what changes do you think the teacher and Yoon’s class mates will make? skipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskipskip They will be amazed by Chinese New Year because they don't celebrate on this holiday.
But they will be curious about it and ask Yoon the things she did on it. Just like you guys may be curious about our custom.

5. What can YOU, as one person, do that would help a student from another country adjust to a classroom in Taiwan?
Tell her Taiwan's everything and taiwanese custom. But the efficient way to know this island is to let her experience life in taiwan.

"Yoon" About this book

I think Yoon is very cute. She believes Santa,so she believes she will get Christmas presents. That's why she always talks about Christmas. But Yoon's parents didn't like to talk to talk about this. They thought they were KOREANs,so they didn't have to celebrate Christmas. They only had to celebrated their Korean holidays. But Yoon didn't give up,and she kept talking to her parents that she wanted to get a Christmas parents. So finally she got her present:a new red dress. She was very happy.
At first,Yoon's parents didn't accept the new culture.Though they were in America, they thought they were still in Korea. But after Yoon kept reminding them, they changed their thoughts.SO they bought her a new dress.
Talking about Christmas, what do you usually get in Christmas?

About the book

sorry... I forgot the book's title

(Actually, I thought that Yoon is a boy at first. And later I'm a little bit surprised to realize that Yoon is a girl.. so funny, isn't it^^)

I think it's ok for Yoon to celebrate Christmas in the U.S. though she is a Korean.
Christmas is a big holiday in America and she may be curious about the different culture and wants to celebrate it with her classmates. In my opinion, I think Yoon's parents should be a little more open-minded toward the differnt culture. Because they are in the US now and they can try to learn something about the US culture without abandoning their original one.

In this global village, one should we aware of other cultures. Sometimes it is necessary for us to know other cultures so that we won't insult people in different countries. :>

Hi, it's me, Petar. I think that Yoon's parents gave her the presents. I do not understand why Yoon's mother was so mad at the birds. Most people like birds. I didn't know that they don't celebrate Christmas in Korea. Do you celebrate Christmas in Taiwan? Please leave a comment.

The reason for the title is because I like smiley faces.

yoon* florence

Yoon's parents disapproved to let her celebrate christmas. But in the end they sent her a dress as a christmas gift and it also could be worn on the Chinese new year. In Taiwan, we will wear a new cloth to celebrate Chinese new year and say Congradulations to everyone. Yoon's parents made a fusion of Chinese and American culture.By the way, the pictures are a little strange.

yoon

Yoon loves the culture in the US, but her dad kept reminding her that they are Korean family. It made Yoon feel sad, but she still believed in that Santa would come to visit on the night of Xmas eve...Her parents couldn't accept it at first, but then gave in and gave Yoon a beautiful dress as a gift.

((I wonder how many of u guys believe in Santa~ @ˇ@ ?))

And I really love the book(except for the pictures= =)
It reflects the differences between two different cultures and whether people can accept another cultures. Obiviously, Yoon's dad can't(at first)
and I'm happy that he finally gave in, because they live in America!!!So, it's neccessary to know about the American culture and accept it~or it might cause serious problems between two different culture, just like genocide or somethin' else~

about Yoon

Yoon is really a cute korean girl. She was influenced by her classmates and teacher, and i think she loved the culture in the USA. She loved Christmas, but her family was against. I dont understand why her parents dont like the culture in the USA but they still lived there. But her parents finally accepted her to believe the Santa. it's a happy ending.
Though i dont believe in Santa, but i think u shouldnt be against the culture that i's different from you.
