ME and Mr. Mah

Dear to the people in TaiWan,
Ian just moved to Canada and he doesn't know anyone, but he gets to know Mr. Mah. Mr. Mah gave him some seeds so that he can plant in his yard. Until Ian got to go to meet Mr. Mah and Mr. Mah told him about his wife, and Ian didn't know that so he told him about his parents slpit up. And Mr. Mah started to hang out with Ian more and told him about his culture in China. Both Mr. Mah and Ian had a special box but they didn't know until Mr. Mah showed Ian and Ian showed Mr. Mah. Mr. Mah took Ian to the graveyard where he buried his wife. Mr. Mah said Ian's name in China and Mr. Mah changed it to Yan.

It's marlin again

Me and Mr.Mah

I think it is a touching story.Mr.Mah and the boy are good friends though they come from differen cultures, and Mr.Mah is much older than the boy. But,I'm more curious about the dragon bowls and the tea cups with the dragon pictures. The dragon used to symbolize the emperors or good luck in chinese culture! It's a pity that they are not common in Taiwan.Maybe,a culture will be known when it is put with another culture.

Me and Mr. Ma (by Grace)

I feel touched after reading the story. The story is full of warmth. I think it's very special to have such a good friend whose age is older than you so much. At the beginning, the boy feels lonely because he couldn't be used to the new environment and he missed his Dad so much.

He is a poor kid, I think .... but he made friends with a nice Chinese old man, Mr. Ma ''
They exchange their culture features and also tell each other their mind. Mr. Ma also showed Ian the secret box which he loved so much.

Later, Ian's mom bought a house near his new school, so he had to move away.
Ian and Mr. Ma are both sad to leave each other. One day, Ian found a box which is very very similar to Mr. Ma's. So, he became nervous and wondered that if anything happened to Mr. Ma.
And his mom took him back to find Mr. Ma. Fortunately, it's just a misunderstanding of Mr. Ma's daughter. So Ian met Mr. Ma again, and looked at each other in the eye and enjoy the friendship they cherish so much.

friendship

Hello!everybody,
Now I'm going to share my feelings with you after reading the book. It's a fantastic story. They ignored their age to be friend and told their experence of different culture to the other. They broke the wall in their hearts and made friends with a foreign stranger. They showed their boxes of memory to each other. The box is the most precious thing they had.Everyone might have a cherished thing which is important to us.Maybe it's a bracelet that link two people's hearts.YY

Me and Mr.Mah ))OVI

It's a touching story, and I think Mr.Mah was more than just a friend for the boy.He was one of his family.Boxes played an important in this story, they symbolized people's unforgetable memories and the friendship between Mr.Mah the boy.Mr.Mah kept the boy from being alone and gave him the biggest support when he was getting used to his parents' divorce as well.
I want to thank Ms.Lee for giving us such a heart-stirring book,I really learned a lot from it!

Me & Mr. Mah ((by Lisa))

Even Though Ian's parents had split, and moved to city with his mother, he could still be happy with his new neighbor, Mr. Mah. They told their stories to each other, soon, they became best friends.
I love the part of the end, it's touched. Fortuately, Ian found Mr. Mah's memory box which had valuable memories in the second-hand store. If not, Mr. Mah could have felt depressed, i think.

Me and Mr. Mah (by Evelyn)

It seems that all of you are very busy. No one posts about the new story.~

First, parents' divorcee always hurts the child. Apparently, the boy was lonely after moving to a new place with his mom. All he could do was to play with the tiny tractor from his father.
Luckily, his neighbor, a kind Chinese old man, chatted with him, taught him how to plant the beautiful sunflowers, and showed him his"box of memory". Though one was old and the other was young, they had happy time together.
I think the bright sunflower might symbolize the warmth between the old man and the child
And did you notice that in the last page: the boy was wearing the Chinese hat, not his green cap.

jenny

i think these are some ways jenny can prove herself: 1. start something and keep going with it and not quit. 2. listen to other mouses talking. 3. she thinks befor she talks!

Hi it's marlin

what did you think of the book? I thought it was good and bouncer is a bad leader. Jenny should have been leader because she talks through the planes and gets it right.

heres alliecat

BOUNCER

Bouncer is bossy
Boucer is rude
Bouncer should not be the leader!
Jenny is nice
Jenny can stop and thank

hi what do you think of Jenny?

hi it is lexy (spicy) what do you think about Jenny??? i think she should be the leader. she is responsible and thinks about what she will do!!!

responsibilitys!

bouncer doesn't want to take responsibility of anything because he is mean, strangem, and bossy!!!!!!

Bouncer

Hi, it's me, Petar. I do not think that bouncer would make a good leader, because he is bossy, and he gives up easily, (he does not want to accept responsibility for his own actions in case something goes wrong, and he gets blamed.) and he thinks he is more important than everyone else. I wonder why no one dissagreed with him.
