I think they're over reacted.

How did her parents’ thinking seem to change by the end of the story?

I think it's because they finally realized that learning different culture has its importantance.

Help her get through Taiwan's culture and some special customs ,do my best to answer her(his) problem of living .Also tell her(him) China is a bad countryXDDD
